All around the world people Celebrate New Year's Day is one of the oldest and most-exciting customs traditions from their country.

New Year's Day is thought of as a perfect time for a "clean start" or New Year's resolutions. People worldwide resolve to act better in the year just beginning than in the year just ended.

Learning about the traditions practiced in other cultures is a fun way to gain respect and acceptance for others sometimes appear different then we are. No day has ever been observed on so many different dates or in so many different ways, It is also a positive step to teaching children to be non-prejudice in a fun way as well.

  1. New Year's day Celebrations in Indonesia, Most of Indonesian people celebrate the New Year's eve with city convoy by cars and motorcycles. Indonesian people usually buy the New Year's things like paper hats, paper trumpet, or fireworks on our way home. They also forgive friends and family for any misunderstandings and disagreements they may have had that year so they can make a clean start of the new year. They usually prepare New Year's Eve parties and celebrations with different themes and entertainment like live musics, and dances.
  2. New Year's day Celebrations in European countries, such as Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands, families start the New Year by first attending church services. Afterwards, they visit friends and relatives. In Italy, boys and girls receive gifts of money on New Year's Day.
  3. New Year's day Celebrations in United States, many people in the United States observe New Year's Day on January 1st by throwing parties late into the night on the eve of December 31st
  4. New Year's day Celebrations in DENMARK, It is a good sign to find your door heaped with a pile of broken dishes at New Years. Old dishes are saved year around to throw them at the homes where their friends live on New Years Eve.
  5. New Year's day Celebrations in Scotland, The New Year is called Hogmanay. In the villages of Scotland, barrels of tar are set afire and then rolled down the streets. This ritual symbolizes that the old year is burned up and the new one is allowed to enter.
  6. New Year's day Celebrations in JAPAN, People in Japan spend weeks planning for their New Year celebrations. They buy special food and make decorations for their front door out of pine branches, bamboo and ropes that are believed to bring health and long life. Fan ropes are also hung over the doors and roofs with seaweed or ferns to bring them happiness and good luck. Children receive 'otoshidamas' which are small gifts with money inside. They also send New Year cards to their friends and hold forgetting-year parties to say goodbye to the old year.
  7. New Year's day Celebrations in China, The Chinese called this time of feasting and celebrations Yuan Tan. Lanterns illuminate the streets as the Chinese use thousands of lanterns 'to light the way' for the New Year. The Chinese believe that evil spirits roam the earth at the New Year, so they let off firecrackers to scare off the spirits and seal their windows and doors with paper to keep the evil demons out.
  8. New Year's day Celebrations in Iran, Iran's New Year's Day, which is in March, celebrates not only the beginning of the new year according to the solar calendar, but also bahar, 'the beginning of spring'.

But somehow the way to celebrate the new year in every country, hopefully in this new year (2010) all people remain living in harmony, happy, and hopefully a better profit than the previous year. So, I just wanted to say for all people in the world "Happy new year" may we always be a useful human being, and continue to do the best for ours life.
